Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas, held May 13-15 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, were chosen as participants of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Buyer Program Select (IBP). The IBP is a joint government-industry effort that brings thousands of international buyers to the U.S. for business-to-business matchmaking with U.S. firms exhibiting at major industry trade shows. It is designed to recruit and pre-screen buyer delegations to attend selected trade shows in the United States, connecting U.S. companies with international buyers. Every year, the IBP results in approximately a billion dollars in new business for U.S. companies, and increased international attendance for participating U.S. trade show organizers. “We are pleased that our events have been selected by the U.S Department of Commerce for this program,” says Dennis Smith, president, Messe Frankfurt, Inc. “Qualified buyers from our targeted foreign markets will have access to more than 800 exhibitors in Techtextil North America, Texprocess Americas and the co-located JEC Americas event.” The U.S Department of Commerce with Messe Frankfurt, Inc. has selected Mexico, Colombia, India, Brazil and the Dominican Republic as the top 5 countries to bring buyer delegations to Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas via the International Buyer Program Select. “The IBP Select team looks forward to working with Messe Frankfurt, Inc. to bring international buyer delegations to Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas to meet with U.S. exporters attending or exhibiting. IBP also offers U.S. companies expert trade counseling, potential international partner identification, and market briefings at shows,” says Antwaun Griffin, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Domestic Operations, U.S. Commercial Service. “You’ll not only meet more pre-screened buyers, representatives and distributors, but your products and services can be listed in the Export Interest Directory and distributed to all international visitors.” Exhibitors and attendees will also be able to meet with the International Trade Specialists from the Department of Commerce who will be available to provide export counseling, matchmaking services, market analysis and more in the international business center located on the show floor.
